The Founder
On December 8, 1856, he found the SOCIETY OF AFRICAN MISSIONS (SMA) at Lyons, France. He arrived in Freetown, (Sierra Leone, West Africa) on May 14, 1859. After six weeks -- on June 25, -- he died of yellow fever.
Though his stay in Africa was shortlived, Bishop de Brésillac had a passion for God and for others that lived on in the hearts of those who have followed in his footsteps.
